Call for evidence: COVID-19 Police powers review

Overview

We welcome the views, thoughts and experiences – both positive and negative – of those who have had contact with the police in relation to the Coronavirus during this period and those who have not had direct experience of contact with the police but who wish to express their views.

We are especially keen to hear how people's experience of the police may have been shaped by their protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010 (which covers: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation) and by any underlying vulnerability, disadvantage or hidden disability that may have made people more susceptible to police contact.   

There are five sections containing questions that will be helpful to the Independent Advisory Group (IAG). These include some tick box questions and some open text boxes for you to express your views. If you do not wish to complete the information yourself, you may ask someone to do it for you as long as they confirm that this is the case.

Please note that you will be asked for your name, details of your personal characteristics and if you would be willing to be contacted for further information. You do not have to answer these questions if you would prefer not to. In addition, you will be asked if you are happy for extracts from your submission to be quoted by the IAG in their reports. This is also voluntary. Please note that any material published by the IAG will not identify any individual.
